Marine Sand Resources
Located at the Southern boundary of the Sulu Sea, we are privileged to hold this concession, with an exploitable marine sand reserve of 262 million cubic meters covering an area of 874.77 hectares (one of the largest areas in the Philippines)
The underwater quarry is permitted by the office of the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) of the Republic of the Philippines.
Underwater quarrying involves underwater or partially submerged excavation operations in shallow or marine waters. It collects seabed sediments, transporting them to other locations, maintaining navigability of waterways and ports, assisting in coastal protection, land reclamation and coastal reconstruction.
These materials include high-value minerals or sediments used by the construction industry, such as sand and gravel.
The underwater quarrying process is divided into four parts: loosening materials, bringing them to the surface (mining), transportation and disposal. Materials can be transported by barges or through floating pipelines that extend for kilometers. These materials are utilized to replenish sand lost due to coastal erosion or to construct seawalls.
River dredging projects can effectively reduce the silt and sand in rivers. Their roles include improving flood control capabilities, stabilizing riverbeds, clearing hazards, ensuring the safety of local residents, and plays a vital role in improving the living conditions and economic development.
